Who we are

One community, many stories.

FASR was founded to create a welcoming home for Fijians of every background across the Sacramento region.

Our Mission

Preserve what shaped us. Strengthen what connects us.

The mission of the Fijian Association of Sacramento Region (FASR) is to preserve and celebrate Fiji's diverse cultural heritage while strengthening the social, educational, economic, and overall well-being of Fijian (iTaukei, Indo-Fijian and Pacific Islander) individuals and families throughout the Greater Sacramento Region.

Through culturally responsive educational programs, leadership development, health and wellness initiatives, economic empowerment, civic engagement, cultural preservation, and volunteer service, FASR connects individuals and families to essential resources, builds community partnerships, develops future leaders, and promotes meaningful community participation.

As a California nonprofit public benefit corporation, FASR operates exclusively for charitable and educational purposes. We are committed to providing accessible and inclusive programs that address community needs, improve quality of life, and create lasting opportunities for current and future generations, regardless of ethnicity, religion, age, gender, or socioeconomic background.

What guides us

Belonging is at the heart of everything.

01

Honoring Heritage

We are committed to preserving, celebrating, and sharing the unique history, traditions, languages, customs, and values of the people of Fiji. The Fijian Association of Sacramento Region recognizes Girmit Remembrance and the Fiji Independence Celebration as its official Signature Heritage Events.

02

Building Community

We believe that relationships are the foundation of a thriving community. FASR exists to connect people, promote successes in our community, celebrate the achievements of our fellow community members, and to create an environment where every person feels welcomed, respected, encouraged and included.

03

Empowering Generations

Our greatest investment is in the next generation. By teaching our young adults essential life skills while immersing them in Fijian cultural etiquette, traditions, language, and cuisine, we can instill pride in their heritage and inspire them to preserve our legacy for generations to come.

Our Vision

Building a stronger community together.

FASR was created to be more than an organization that hosts cultural or community events. We envisioned a community where people could build lifelong friendships, celebrate achievements, support one another during times of need, preserve our traditions, and work together to strengthen our community. We believed that the remarkable talent already within our community could become one of our greatest strengths if we created opportunities for people to share their knowledge, experience, and passion in service to others.
